The colors and lines are very powerful, and while the medium is "simple/crude/primitive" the effect is very powerful. When I clicked on the pictures, the words "engaged" "listed" and "complex" appeared (from left to right pictures). Wow! I had to go back and look again. It feels just a little like Edward Hopper but without the illustrative concentration and working class subject matter. I think that it''s the way that he placed the figures within the picture plane. I love it when a painter can show accents without white. Those brush stokes of yellow at the bottom are so rich and tasty. Just a less saturated yellow of the muted yellow underneath. Very painterly and beautiful. What an interesting painting.
