I quickly constructed three collages from items found in the recycling bin at my office and pinned them inside my cubicle. I notice that the broken images of perception seems to induce a bit of confusion and caution in my habitually negative and sometimes rude co-workers as they approach my workstation. Their requests become a bit less demanding; bad moods soften and more genuine interactions occur. Although I witness curious co-workers sometimes averting their attention to the cheap media of arts and crafts cut and paste, no one has commented.

I agree with devonette that they are evocative art = evoking vs. invoking = creating a reaction = a space of action around the art piece; I feel energy from the vibrancy and the “cutting action” from the cut outs – bringing forth a directional energy for the viewer…the eyes trying to follow disconnected shapes…yet there is a rhythm (a method to the madness, if you will). The colors and lines are very powerful, and while the medium is “simple/crude/primitive” the effect is very powerful. When I clicked on the pictures, the words “engaged” “listed” and “complex” appeared (from left to right pictures). Wow!
